What have we been up to?

When ever we meet graduates of our program we are asked this question.  Its normal to keep in touch with people and we always feel a sense of pride in hearing how well our graduates are doing in their careers.

As many of you know, WMTI stopped accepting new students in February 2009 and completed the education of all actively enrolled students over the following two years.  We fulfilled our commitments to each active student in February 2011, having awarded our last diploma.

The process of re-inventing ourselves began in earnest once the last of our students graduated and our occupancy of the Woodridge building came to an end.  To those who have continued to visit our website in search of new information, we express our deep appreciation.  Lacking direct access to the old website to make changes, we regret the lack of updated information.  With a new “user friendly” website interface we now have the access and ability to make changes more easily as we have been “taught to fish”.  So we have been busy planning the new site.

We have been honored (and pleasantly surprised) with the continued inquiries into the training programs advertised on the old WMTI website. We thank those who have inquired and suggest you read our “Looking for a Massage School” post for important information in that regard.

As we await a legally agreed upon “no compete” period to expire, we have received inquiries regarding the many interesting and diverse Continuing Education seminars we have traditionally offered and had set our training program and graduates apart.  Please continue to visit this website for their re-emergence.  WMTI intends to continue presenting quality continuing education seminars and other services to WMTI graduates, and the health care community at large.   Through your participation in the new Forum, we invite your input and suggestions.  We anticipate the venues for the continuing education seminars will be spread out over the greater metropolitan area and we invite your suggestions for suitable sites.

This past summer we had the distinct pleasure of sharing our massage therapy skills with Legends Drum & Bugle Corps, an Open Class corps consisting of 100+ musicians and coaches.  Our daughter, Claire, joined the corps and fell victim to the 12+ hours of daily practice and conditioning drills.  A quick call to her parents to give her some massage developed into our performing “massage triage” at various staging areas throughout Illinois, Michigan and Indiana.  It was very rewarding to introduce the 16 - 23 year old corps members to the power of massage therapy, aromatherapy, cranial work and Spiral Synergy. (They want Claire back next summer in the hopes Laura and I will volunteer our skills once more!)

We continue our their private massage and bodywork practices (Cranial, Spiral Synergy, aromatherapy) incorporating the approaches we have studied and taught during the past 28 years.  We also continue to build our Young Living home business.  We are close to marketing a series of instructional DVDs in massage therapy and Spiral Synergy and recently finished an ebook combining Chapman’s Neurolymphatic Reflexes, Spiral Synergy and Essential Oils.

Together we grow and evolve.

In gratitude and health,

Ray and Laura
